Commissioning converts drawings into verified operation. It begins with design reviews and inspection plans, continues through construction tests, and concludes after the operating team has demonstrated the installed system.
Follow one commissioning sequence
- Review design intent, acceptance criteria and test instruments.
- Inspect installation completeness, labels, access and cleanliness.
- Complete pressure, electrical, control, drainage and equipment tests.
- Fill, flush, balance and establish treatment.
- Measure every circulation and feature mode.
- Calibrate sensors and verify manual testing.
- Test alarms, interlocks, standby duties and recovery sequences.
- Observe representative operation and train named staff.
Issue a project-specific operating manual
The handover set contains the approved brief, basis of design, as-built drawings, process schematics, asset register, valve schedule, setpoints, commissioning results, calibration records, water-quality schedule, normal operating procedure, maintenance plan, warranties and supplier contacts.
Operate by frequency and authority
| Frequency | Core actions |
|---|---|
| Each opening and shift | Water condition, manual tests, controller comparison, flow, level, plant, deck and record handover |
| Weekly | Water balance, strainers, filter condition, dosing stock, alarms, cleaning quality and trend review |
| Monthly | Microbiological programme where applicable, calibration, safety devices, asset inspection and performance report |
| Seasonal or annual | Major service, hydraulic verification, structural and finish review, staff competency and lifecycle plan |
Manage energy and water through measured performance
Efficient operation preserves required circulation, filtration, disinfection and environmental quality. Pump control follows measured flow. Covers reduce evaporation where compatible with operation. Heating, ventilation, backwash and make-up water are metered and reviewed. Equipment selections use lifecycle energy, water, service and replacement evidence.
Maintain the standard
The owner reviews performance after initial operation and at planned intervals. Changes in use, bathing load, temperature, equipment or treatment return to the same controlled design process. Records become the evidence for training, maintenance and improvement.
