MAZACURE answer

The disappearing line begins with a viewpoint—not with a waterfall. A MAZACURE visual study of architecture, hydraulics and experience.

The Architectural Idea

An infinity edge is successful when the pool surface, weir and distant horizon are composed from the primary viewing position. The falling water and catch basin are necessary parts of the system, but the architectural experience is created by line of sight, proportion and restraint.

Design Principles

  • Establish the principal eye level and viewing axis before fixing the edge location.
  • Keep the weir visually continuous; interruptions become obvious against the horizon.
  • Treat the lower catch basin as part of the architecture when it is visible from the landscape.
  • Coordinate water sound, wind exposure and night lighting with the desired atmosphere.
  • Resolve hydraulics, structure, waterproofing and code compliance through qualified specialists.
