MAZACURE answer

A story of two people, one quiet pool and the subtle difference between being near and feeling close. A MAZACURE standard.

Before either of them came outside

At dawn, the pool was a single dark plane between the glass house and the open sky. Two chairs stood at opposite ends. Nothing moved except the faintest line where water met stone. The space did not tell anyone what to feel; it simply made distance visible.

By evening, that distance belonged to Leena and Kareem. They carried separate days to separate sides of the same pool. Their words had not become cruel. They had become practical, which was sometimes lonelier. Across the water, each saw the other and recognised the distance measured beyond metres.

What rain changes

A brief rain arrived after sunset. Droplets broke the villa lights into pieces and scattered their reflections over the surface. Kareem watched the image of the house disappear and return with every ripple. Leena watched the same thing from the opposite edge.

The pool did not represent their sadness; it revealed its shape. Still water had made the gap look permanent. Disturbed water made every boundary temporary. The reflection broke and rebuilt a hundred times while the structure behind it remained constant.

Almost touching

They moved closer without discussing it. Leena knelt and rested her hand near the water. Kareem did the same from the adjoining edge. Their hands remained apart, but their reflections reached farther than they did, stretching toward the centre until the surface brought them close.

He said he was tired. She said she knew. Then she told him she was tired too. It was not a solution. It was the first honest thing either had offered all week.

Walking the edge

The evening lighting softened from white to amber, then carried a restrained violet line across the far wall. On the surface, the colours joined where the architecture remained separate. Leena began walking the long edge of the pool. Kareem fell into step beside her.

They did not face each other. They watched their reflections travel together. Sometimes conversation becomes possible when people are allowed to look in the same direction.

A smaller gap

Two cups of tea appeared beside one towel. From above, the pool held their figures close enough that the water drew their reflections together. They spoke about missed dinners, unfinished sentences and the habit of assuming there would always be a better evening later.

The important change was quiet: one shared edge where there had been two opposing sides.

Calm without conclusion

Near midnight, the surface became still again. This stillness was different from the morning. Then, it had held absence. Now it held two small figures sitting shoulder to shoulder at the far end.

AURA shaped the light and maintained the water, but it did not make the reconciliation. The value of a responsive environment is not that it creates emotion. It is that it can remove friction, hold a mood gently and give people enough calm to find their own way across.
